Project Porchlight Vermont

Simple Actions Matter in Vermont!
In the summer of 2008, more than 400 enthusiastic volunteers, with the generous support of the Burlington Electric Department and the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation, helped the Project Porchlight team successfully distribute more than 30,000 free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to Vermont residents door-to-door and during events.
During the successful campaign in Vermont, Project Porchlight was able to reach thousands of residents in communities like Burlington, Colchester, Essex Junction, Essex, Winooski, and St. Albans.
Hundreds of people participated in Project Porchlight and reinforced the notion that Vermonters are ready to make a positive change to save energy and protect the environment.

30,000 bulbs changed means:
- 14,103 MWh saved (mega-watt hours) over the lifetime of the bulbs.
- $240,056 in energy saved
- 1,860 tons of coals not burned
- 7,111 less tons of CO2 emitted
Congratulations, Vermont! We did it!
