Shore News Today (Abescon, NJ): Project Porchlight to hand out CFLs door-to-door Saturday
Many residents were passed up when Project Porchlight hit the city last summer, so Councilman Drew Fishman contacted the state and a second day of distributing compact fluorescent bulbs is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12.
The state is providing the light bulbs and promotional materials.
“I reached out to Holy Spirit High School,” Fishman said Thursday, Dec. 3 at a City Council meeting. “The Earth Club will be distributing bulbs door to door from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In four hours we’re going to try to distribute 2,800 light bulbs.”
Project Porchlight volunteers are delivering free energy-saving light bulbs across New Jersey, Fishman said. Changing a light bulb is one way to save power and money and help save the environment.
The more volunteers the merrier, he said.
