Our Sports Central (Regina, SK): A Bright Night at the ‘Dome
Posted October 30, 2008 by Jeff

The Regina Pats are proud to light up Halloween when they welcome Project Porchlight, an energy-efficiency campaign, to the 'Dome on Friday night when the Pats host the Red Deer Rebels at 8pm. Following the game, more than 3000 free energy-saving compact fluorescent light (CHL) bulbs and information will be distributed to Pats fans as they leave the 'Dome. This fall, Project Porchlight volunteers will be handing out more than 200,000 free CHL bulbs to residents across Saskatchewan.

If you make the switch from an old-fashioned incandescent bulb to an energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulb you will notice immediate energy savings-- changing just one CFL bulb will save you about $40 on your electricity bill. CFL bulbs use at least 66% less electricity than incandescent bulbs and last 8 to 10 times longer.

Regina Pats Director of Sales and Marketing, Cliff Mapes, is excited about the event, "With the changing times, people are becoming more and more environmentally conscious, and I know that the fans of the Regina Pats will embrace "Project Porchlight", and change to the CFL bulbs they receive."

Make sure to pick up your free compact fluorescent light bulb as you leave the game. To volunteer to hand out CFL bulbs in your neighborhood, or to find out more, visit www.projectporchlight.com.

Project Porchlight Saskatchewan is made possible through the support of SaskPower eneraction.
