Mediacaster Magazine: Local TV Webisode Debuts with Global Aspirations
A new Web/TV crossover series from Toronto-based production company CineFocus Canada will be marketed internationally following its online debut this week.
Green Heroes uses two minute webisodes to describe how 'the light went on' for people whose concern for the environment moved them from apathy to action.
John Bessai and Joan Prowse are the creators and producers of the GreenHeroes TV series and web channel, and are co-founders of CineFocus Canada - an award-winning interactive TV and digital media production company.
CineFocus Canada is among the recipients of the Ontario Media Development Corporation's (OMDC) Market Export Fund in the Interactive Digital Media category, enabling the company to pursue development and marketing activities for our various projects, including GreenHeroes.tv, in a number of European, North American and Australasian markets, including MIPCOM in Cannes (France), RealScreen Summit in Washington (USA), World Congress of Science and Factual Producers in Dresden (Germany), and Australasian Media and Broadcasting Congress in Sydney (Australia).
The webisode made its debut Monday, September 27th on www.GreenHeroes.tv
The show features Stuart Hickox, a former marketer from Ottawa who is now applying the tools of his trade to help green the planet. Volunteers of his Project Porchlight campaign have distributed three million compact florescent light bulbs for free - door to door. He believes everyone can take simple steps towards more sustainable living. "If everyone makes just one change towards helping the environment it can result in massive change over all," says Hickox. "I say every campaign has to be at least a little impossible in order for it to work." His latest campaign Psst! encourages people to check the air pressure in their car tires in order to promote fuel efficiency.
Viewers will be encouraged to submit their own ideas and user generated content to the show.
GreenHeroes is supported by the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, CanadaTelevision Fund (now known as the Canada Media Fund), TVO, SUN TV and SCN.
