Project Porchlight Ontario

Project Porchlight Ontario

Simple Actions Matter in Ontario!

Thanks to more than 2,000 dedicated volunteers and with generous funding from our sponsors, the Project Porchlight team successfully distributed more than 640,000 free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to residents door-to-door and at more than 150 community events across Ontario at the end of 2007!

Thousands of people participated in Project Porchlight and proved that Ontarians are ready to make a positive change to save energy and protect the environment. An amazing 500 community groups, businesses and organizations helped distribute CFL bulbs and empower Ontarians to believe that simple actions matter, including:

  • 94 Municipalities
  • 66 Schools
  • 22 Faith Groups
  • 40 environmental groups
  • Over 50 businesses
  • 228 Other Community Organizations and Businesses
  • 640,000 light bulbs changed means:

  • 320,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions that won’t be produced
  • 80 million tonnes of coal that will not be burned
  • $32 million saved on hundreds of thousands of electricity bills
  • Congratulations Ontario! We did it!
