Project Porchlight revs up at trade show

You didn’t have to twist our arms to get us to the Rocky Mountain Trade Show last weekend. The exhibits and the food were to die for.

People came out in droves to meet Russ Mitchell and Gerry Merchand from TV’s Great Biker Build-Off [1]. The guys built a custom chopper bike right before our eyes and auctioned it off for charity on Sunday.

On Saturday night, we feasted on a pig roast and roast beef buffet sponsored by Grillers Steakhouse and the Rocky Mountain House Chamber of Commerce. Sunday morning, we enjoyed a mouth-watering pancake breakfast sponsored by Alberta Sustainable Resource Development [2].

The trade show drew a fantastic crowd; people were keen to talk with us and get involved. Volunteers from the community even offered to man our booth on Saturday, leaving us free to explore some of the many exhibits.

We spent a fantastic three days in Rocky Mountain House. All told, we distributed nearly 1,000 CFLs. The Project Porchlight team went home happy on Sunday May 4th, with full bellies and empty green bags – the perfect combination.
