"I'm a hippie at heart," says fourth-year University of Lethbridge [1] Environmental Science student Jamie Novlesky. "I like the environment. It's something I value a lot."
Growing up, Jamie spent as much time as possible in the great outdoors, at one with nature. When she heard that Project Porchlight was looking for volunteers to deliver free CFLs door-to-door throughout Lethbridge, Jamie saw it as another opportunity to spend time outside. Not to mention help the environment get back on its feet.
"I'm interested in doing good things for the environment," says Jamie. "If everybody makes this simple change… we can actually make some differences in the world."
For her part, Jamie has been using compact fluorescent light bulbs for years. And, after graduating this spring, Jamie plans to make an even bigger contribution by going into a career in conservation. "I like the feeling that I'm making a change for the better," she says.
