It's a phenomenon. Every day, dozens of people come into our office to pick up bulbs to deliver in their neighbourhoods or to their faith organizations or in community groups. They come from all over, are of all ages. Some arrive in swanky SUVs (somewhat shame-faced), others just want to help those around them. They all have one thing in common. They all say,
"Thank you for letting me do this."
These people are giving up their free time to deliver light bulbs on cold October evenings. And they're really grateful. It's incredible, really. There is hope.
This morning, Charles H. came in again to pick up another bag of 50 bulbs. He's up to 600 now, which makes him a Porchlight Hero! His wife helps out at a community centre 3 mornings a week, and Charles hits the streets with our bag of bulbs. He's awesome. And there are 150 more people like him working with us in Ottawa. So to all of you,
"You're welcome. And thank You!"
