What began as a pilot project to hand out a few thousand free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs in Ottawa in 2005 has grown into a million-bulb campaign for energy conservation and grassroots social change.

An award-winning energy efficiency campaign was launched today in Grande Prairie, part of a province-wide campaign to deliver 500,000 free energy-efficiency light bulbs to Alberta households. Project Porchlight volunteers are heading into the community to spread an important message: Everyone can conserve energy, save money, and help the environment with simple, effective actions.

Volunteers with Project Porchlight, an award-winning energy efficiency campaign run by the not-for-profit group One Change, will distribute a half million energy-efficient light bulbs this fall to households across Ontario. Project Porchlight is a campaign to encourage people to use energy wisely.
