Warm Hearted Volunteer Braves the Cold

Braving temperatures of -25 to -35 degrees in Grande Prairie, Millie Jeffrey ventured out to hand out light bulbs to her neighbors for Project Porchlight.

Millie decided there was a job to do and it had to be done - so she did it! Our hats are off to Millie along with our Thanks!

A moment of reflection

I'm as human as the next person, which means that occasionally I get cranky and ill-tempered. And I'm willing to admit that last night at 6:30pm, I was not looking forward to driving into Okotoks for the third time in a week and not getting the chance spend the night at home with my partner.

We have three questions for you. One: do you care about issues like climate change and energy conservation? Two: do you sometimes feel like these issues are so big that you can't do anything about them? Three: do you have an hour to spare? If you answered yes to all three questions, then Project Porchlight is for you! Project Porchlight is about demonstrating that simple actions matter.

Meeting the Mayor of Fairview

After our Grande Prairie launch event, at which representatives from Fairview in attendance were recognized for their initiative as being one of the first communities in Alberta to implement Project Porchlight, we had a chance to actually go and visit our friends in Fairview - on THEIR turf!

When the music's over, turn on the lights

It was t-minus approximately 24 hours until our provincial launch in Medicine Hat, when I got the call from T.

"Do we have live music confirmed for the launch yet?"

We had requested assistance from a local high school band, but they had not yet confirmed. This was a problem. Simply put: a launch without live music ain't no launch, and we don't roll like that at Project Porchlight.
