The annual Sayreville Day in Sayreville, New Jersey, is a great community event for so many reasons! The organizers of the event do their best to ensure that families can enjoy the day with plenty of free children’s activities, making “Say Day” a low-cost day for families on a budget.

Everyone at the annual Asbury Park Oyster Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey has a great time--except, of course, the oysters. One of the city’s biggest free festivals, the event stretches along scenic Lake Avenue and offers loads of oysters, beer, wine, and festival foods. This year, the 4th Annual Asbury Park Oysterfest took place on September 10-12.

The 13th annual Union County MusicFest took place on September 11 & 12 at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, New Jersey. A service of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders that’s supported by corporate and community partners, the free event draws thousands of music lovers each year.

While the annual Dumont Day held in Dumont, New Jersey, is a lot of fun, the event also supports the borough’s nonprofit organizations as well as local families in need. This year’s event, held on September 11, started with the “Dumont Cares Run for Fun,” a 5K fundraising race.

The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance was founded by 9/11 family members and support groups as a way to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11 and to rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion that followed the attacks. September 11 was officially recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, passed with strong bipartisan support and signed into law by President Obama in April, 2009
