MP John Baird was just named the new Environment Minister. This is good news. Mr. Baird is an Ottawa-area MP who is described as a "rising star" in the Conservative Cabinet. He seems to have the PM's ear. We had a good chat with him about our program at a recent environment fair (see photo). And we've delivered a bulb to his house.
Just this week, the Globe and Mail reported that the Conservative government is seeking advice on how to make its environment strategy more effective. We hope that the new Environment Minister will be open to simple, grassroots solutions like Porchlight's. We tried to reach his predecessor, and had no luck.
John Baird can change a light bulb; we hope that he encourages the entire country to do it too.
