Have you heard about the Canadian Geographic Environmental Awards? Nominations for this green-inspired award have past, but there must be community-based awards and recognitions that take place all over this fine province of ours.
Exciting stuff considering all of the eager Porchlight volunteers who have the potential to become ambassadors for environmentally-friendly options not only in your community, but all over Canada, too.
My mind is conjuring images of the fabulous Rotary Club in town, and their peanut drive/bulb giveaway activity. Or how about Wendy MacDonald at the local library, promoting energy-saving light bulbs in the community for the weeks leading up to the Rotary event. Or how about the students who went door-to-door ensuring hundreds of folks in the community got their free bulb? That's inspired community action at its best.
There are dozens of environmental champions in Sioux Lookout!
