Project Porchlight to Shine a Light on Calgary and Edmonton
Posted by Josh | October 8, 2008

With support from EnCana, The Government of Alberta, The City of Calgary, and The City of Edmonton, One Change will be launching the second phase of the Project Porchlight campaign in Alberta this fall. Hot on the heels of amazing success throughout the rest of Alberta over the past year, Project Porchlight is now set to brighten Calgary and Edmonton.

Beginning this month, enthusiastic Project Porchlight teams in Calgary and Edmonton will be spearheading the award-winning, community-based environmental initiative.

"Our staff and volunteers are excited to be a part of such a great campaign," explains Project Porchlight’s Scott Payne. "Everyone can get involved and make a meaningful difference just by changing a light bulb. Simple actions really do matter."

Volunteers and field representatives within each city will be delivering a total of 300,000 free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs at events and door to door, encouraging citizens to cut back energy use, save money, and protect the environment. To date, Project Porchlight has delivered more than 1 million CFL bulbs to residents in Alberta, British Columbia, the Yukon, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Vermont, and New Jersey.

Project Porchlight will kick off the second phase of this campaign in Edmonton and Calgary with a series of launch events. For more information about the launches in each city, please visit our Events Calendar.
