About 1,000 Freehold, NJ residents came out on July 17 to celebrate freedom, America, and community pride at the 7th annual Freehold Township Day. The concert-and-movie event is organized by David Clemenko, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and lifelong Freehold Township resident, and by the Veterans Community Alliance, an organization he started to help veterans in need of financial assistance.
Project Porchlight was honored to be in attendance, and in the company of such fine people, including Freehold Mayor Dorothy H. Avallone. Amid the cheerful sounds of chatter and live music, Project Porchlight spread the message that simple actions matter, and handed out free energy-saving compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to help people get started in making smart choices that protect the environment.
Our efforts at the Freehold Township Day event were part of Project Porchlight New Jersey’s campaign to distribute energy-efficient light bulbs to residents across the state. Project Porchlight is an initiative of One Change, and the campaign is made possible thanks to funding by the state Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP).
