Hold on to your hats, ladies and gentlemen of Wetaskiwin. Word on the street is that Project Porchlight sent a few good men and women your way. And it's been said that there's no stopping them once they get started. They bring with them the finest compact fluorescent light bulbs, and they won't rest until every man, woman and child in Wetaskiwin has one of them free new energy-efficient bulbs in their hands.
You may choose to believe that these tales are just rumours. Just people talking when they shouldn't be. But I heard that about 3,000 people swear they saw the Project Porchlight gang at the annual Rawhide Rodeo this Victoria Day long weekend.
Now those could just be rumours. Could be that 3,000 people all imagined the same thing: that the gang handed out 700 CFLs to anyone who crossed their path; and that the Wetaskiwin Agricultural Society, who hosted the rodeo, did everything they could to keep the gang happy - handing over space in their covered tent, free admission and free breakfasts.
But if you ask me, I say better safe than sorry. I believe those stories. And I say you should be on the lookout for more members of the Project Porchlight gang in the next few weeks. You never know when they'll turn up at your door. And when they do, you better expect to be staring down the nose of a CFL.
