This award-winning energy efficiency campaign works from the grassroots in communities across Canada, spreading the message that simple actions can make a big difference when it comes to helping the environment.
We need volunteers to hand out free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to households in Fort Frances. Altogether we'll be giving out 500,000 CFL bulbs across Ontario!
On Thursday, October 4, the Fort Frances Junior Sabres will be going door-to-door delivering bulbs! Come give us a hand! Door-to-door delivery is fun and easy, and it's not a big time commitment (1-2 hours). The whole family can get involved!
On Friday, October 5, come and visit our booth at the Fort Frances Junior Sabres home game! We will have free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs and energy saving coupons for everyone there!
CFL bulbs use 75% less electricity than old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. That means you save money on your electricity bill, less coal gets burnt, and pollution is reduced. Talk about a win-win-win situation!
Each CFL bulb saves you up to $50 on your electricity bill over its lifespan. Once all these energy-efficient bulbs are in use, Ontario residents will save $25 million over five years. It also means 250,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide won't be emitted from coal-fired plants because these bulbs use 75% less electricity!
We want you to be involved! Post one of our volunteer recruitment signs (available from our web site), or sign up to volunteer. For more information, contact us or call Project Porchlight at 1-866-585-6359.
