Project Porchlight Celebrates Independence Day With West Windsor, NJ
Posted by OneChange | July 6, 2010

The annual WPST Freedom Festival, sponsored by radio station WPST 94.5-FM, is a family event built around the Independence Day Fireworks that take place just after sunset at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, New Jersey. This year’s event, on June 26, featured live music, food, crafts, and games. There was also something different: Project Porchlight was on hand to educate folks about the energy savings offered by compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs as well as the energy efficiency programs that are available through New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP).

A total of 454 CFL bulbs were distributed that day, part of Project Porchlight New Jersey’s campaign to distribute energy-efficient light bulbs to residents across the state. Project Porchlight is an initiative of One Change, and the campaign is made possible thanks to funding by the state Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and NJCEP.

“We love being partners with Project Porchlight,” says WPST General Sales Manager Lydia Rios. “We think it’s a great idea to get the word out to Mercer County residents that everybody should be taking these simple steps to protect the environment.”

When it comes to protecting our environment, simple actions matter. Even something as simple as changing a light bulb can make a difference. By connecting with state residents face-to-face, Project Porchlight empowers people from all backgrounds to make smart choices that conserve energy and protect the environment.
