After our Grande Prairie launch event, at which representatives from Fairview in attendance were recognized for their initiative as being one of the first communities in Alberta to implement Project Porchlight, we had a chance to actually go and visit our friends in Fairview - on THEIR turf! It was a great opportunity to place names and voices to faces and see all the excitement happening as the Town of Fairview gets ready to deliver bulbs and act as one of the first beacons of light in Northwestern Alberta.
Project Porchlight got a tour around town to see all the various neighbourhoods and areas in which bulbs are going to be delivered. We also visited the local NAIT campus to speak with NAIT administrators about Project Porchlight and the Town's involvement. The day wrapped up with the opportunity to sit down with the Mayor of Fairview, Rick Nicholson, to talk about Porchlight and other initiatives that are being spearheaded by the Town. Mayor Nicholson also let us snap a picture of him with a bulb for our website (he's a very photogenic fella).
A big thanks to Mayor Nicholson and Councillors Lloyd Campbell, Larry Chorney, Brent Dechant, Anne Grayson, Noel Jorgensen, and Anton Prybysh for their outstanding support of Project Porchlight and for continuing to be lights in their community!
