As both Mayor of Essex and a mail carrier for Canada Post Corporation, Ron McDermott figured he still didn't have enough on his plate. So he signed on as a Project Porchlight volunteer this fall.

We've been keeping busy in Essex County for the past few weeks! With the community's help, Project Porchlight delivered 750 light bulbs throughout the area. We left 500 more bulbs with Harrow District High School and Essex District Secondary School, whose staff and students volunteered to distribute the remaining CFLs.

Most of us have seen seasonal LED strings in the past couple of years, either on store shelves or hanging from neighbour's houses and trees. They're the brighter, better holiday lights that not only look more colorful and vivid, but also use about 95% less electricity than your old incandescent-style light strings.

One Change is undertaking a special energy-saving initiative this holiday season, with a Seasonal Light Exchange to take place at retail stores across Ontario. We need volunteers in the locations listed below to make it happen!

Project Porchlight is coming to your community!
This award-winning energy efficiency campaign works from the grassroots in communities across Canada, spreading the message that simple actions can make a big difference when it comes to helping the environment.
Your students and staff can give us a hand!

We've brought on a number of field staff to help ensure that our distribution campaigns are going smoothly out there in communities across Ontario.

Edison's dimming bulbs. An interesting piece from Slate on consumers and the gradual move from incandescent to CFL technology, and the role governments and retailers are playing in this migration.

Hundreds of regular folks have volunteered with Project Porchlight, delivering energy-saving CFL lightbulbs in their neighborhoods, to their social circle, at community events. But there's lots of Porchlight bulbs to go around, and we need your help to get them out there!

Hello! Welcome to the Project Porchlight home page for our campaign in Essex. We're glad that you've found us!
