CFLs shed old light on greenhouse-gas problem
Don Butler, Ottawa Citizen, October 15, 2008--Switching to more efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs would cut lighting energy demand by nearly 40 per cent and eliminate 900 million tonnes of greenhouse gases a year globally by 2030, according to a U.S. study.

One Change was honoured to be a part of the first annual Corporate Social Responsibility Conference on December 3rd.

One change doesn’t sound so small when 700,000 people do it.
That’s exactly what’s happened so far in Alberta this year. 700,000 households have accepted one of our CFLs, making one change that’s added up to something really big.

300,000 Energy Efficient Bulbs to Light up Alberta as part of National Environmental Campaign

Do you live in or around Lethbridge? We need your help! Deliver free energy-efficient light bulbs to your friends and neighbours! Join Project Porchlight for an orientation session and bulb distribution for new volunteers at the Lethbridge City Police Station's Community Room, Friday May 9 from 6:45pm-7:30pm.
The police station's doors close at 7PM, so please arrive early! See you there!

"I'm a hippie at heart," says fourth-year University of Lethbridge Environmental Science student Jamie Novlesky. "I like the environment. It's something I value a lot."

"I've been a backpacker all my life," says Jon Oxley, manager of the Students' Union at the University of Lethbridge. His favourite recreational activity has always been tossing the bare essentials into a backpack and heading out in the wilderness, either by foot, bicycle or kayak.

Students from the Lethbridge College Environmental Sciences program put their knowledge - and a little legwork - into practice last week. They took a two-day study break on March 26th and 27th to distribute Project Porchlight's environmentally-friendly CFL bulbs as part of our Lethbridge bulb blitz.

March 14th was our warm-up. But tonight is the real deal.
Last Friday, we led an orientation session and gave out green bags full of CFLs in the Lethbridge police station community room. Now, we're preparing for the ultimate St. Patrick's Day green celebration.

We're all in this to help protect and preserve our environment. For us, for future generations, and for the animals who share our planet. So it was very fitting that Project Porchlight launched in Lethbridge at the city's Canadian Nature in Mind Folk Festival on February 22nd and 23rd.
