CFLs shed old light on greenhouse-gas problem
Don Butler, Ottawa Citizen, October 15, 2008--Switching to more efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs would cut lighting energy demand by nearly 40 per cent and eliminate 900 million tonnes of greenhouse gases a year globally by 2030, according to a U.S. study.

One Change was honoured to be a part of the first annual Corporate Social Responsibility Conference on December 3rd.

One change doesn’t sound so small when 700,000 people do it.
That’s exactly what’s happened so far in Alberta this year. 700,000 households have accepted one of our CFLs, making one change that’s added up to something really big.

300,000 Energy Efficient Bulbs to Light up Alberta as part of National Environmental Campaign

Have you ever wanted to make a positive change for the environment in your community? Are you interested in becoming involved in a national campaign to help reduce energy consumption? Do you have some time to spare for the next two to three months?

At Light Up Canmore on November 23rd, we had Santa, we had the Porchlight crank, we had a choir singing carols, and we had a Christmas tree. And of course, we had plenty of CFLs and buttons to go around. What more could anyone ask?

Project Porchlight is excited to announce a partnership with the Alberta Junior Forest Warden Association (AJFWA) in our campaign to delivery 500,000 energy-efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to Albertans.

Did you catch Stuart's appearance on CBC's Wildrose Country on Friday? Our executive director was in Alberta this week to prepare for this weekend's bulb blitz in towns and cities across the province, and took a few minutes to chat with host Holly Preston about our campaign.

There's an annual event in Alberta called Light Up Canmore. Project Porchlight simply must be there!

Project Porchlight has free energy saving CFL light bulbs for your community. We are looking for community champions to help us light up your neighborhood and deliver these door to door. It takes about an hour to deliver a bag of bulbs and we're looking for volunteers to deliver on their street.
