Caldwell New Jersey Blog
In preparation for Project Porchlight New Jersey’s new campaign, staff from our offices in Caldwell and Trenton gathered on April 5 for a Staff Training Day at the Rutgers University Continuing Studies Conference Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

When Project Porchlight started its campaign to distribute energy-efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to residents across the state in the fall of 2008, we held our first Bulb Blitz in Caldwell, New Jersey, where we joined forces with the Caldwell Environmental Commission (CEC). On October 24, we teamed up once again with the CEC for their annual Green Fair.

Just how busy were Project Porchlight New Jersey’s staff and volunteers during the weekend of July 25 & 26?
Check out the number of bulbs they distributed, and you’ll get some idea: Hard-working Project Porchlight staff and volunteers all over New Jersey distributed a record number of energy-efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs between Friday and Sunday—a total of 14,486 CFL bulbs!

Project Porchlight Rallies for Energy-Saving Campaign
Project Porchlight, a nonprofit energy-efficiency campaign run by One Change, met with partners of the NJ Green Resource Team to roll out a new statewide initiative to save NJ homeowners on energy costs and their carbon footprint.

Ask any Project Porchlight volunteer about our Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator Quincey Xavier (pictured here), and you’ll hear pretty much the same things again and again.
“Quincey is really great,” says Sandra Sandoli, a Maplewood, New Jersey mom whose daughter’s Girl Scouts troop distributed 200 energy-saving compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs with Quincey’s help.

As Environmental Coordinator for the Township of Montclair, New Jersey, for the past eight years, Gray Russell (pictured here) has accomplished a great deal.

The Earth Day Celebration on April 18 in Roseland, New Jersey, was a huge success. An estimated 2,500 people turned out to check out live honeybee and composting demonstrations, nature walks, canoeing, kayaking, and many eco-vendors and local environmental groups.

You don’t need to be an expert on environmental issues to volunteer for Project Porchlight. You don’t need to give up a whole lot of your time, either.
All that is required is a morning or an afternoon, a little enthusiasm, and an interest in helping to protect the environment. And most importantly, the willingness to have some fun!
Project Porchlight is a grassroots campaign, and our success is defined by volunteer support.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR program helps individuals and businesses protect the environment by improving energy efficiency.
On April 22, Earth Day 2009, the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program will honor pledge drivers who have made a real impact. Project Porchlight will be honored in fourth place among the top five nationally ranked non-profit organizations!

The countdown is on to the December 13th Newark Bulb Blitz!
Project Porchlight made its presence known yesterday at the “Newark Conserves” Energy and Recycling Awareness Initiative launch. The December 2nd event was held in the Rotunda of Newark City Hall, and boasted an impressive line-up of speakers.
