Posted by Josh | December 22, 2008

CFLs shed old light on greenhouse-gas problem

Don Butler, Ottawa Citizen, October 15, 2008--Switching to more efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs would cut lighting energy demand by nearly 40 per cent and eliminate 900 million tonnes of greenhouse gases a year globally by 2030, according to a U.S. study.

Alberta hits the 700,000 mark with a bang
Posted by Amanda | December 8, 2008

One change doesn’t sound so small when 700,000 people do it.

That’s exactly what’s happened so far in Alberta this year. 700,000 households have accepted one of our CFLs, making one change that’s added up to something really big.

Posted by Amanda | December 12, 2007

After meeting with the Athabasca Town Council last month, Project Porchlight is now in full swing. The Town is distributing CFLs from its office at 4705 49th Avenue, handing out free bulbs when residents come in to pay their utility bills.

Many thanks to Melody Wolansky, Director of Finance and Administration; she had a big hand in making things happen.
