Project Porchlight Blog
Project Porchlight staff has grown accustomed to many things while delivering bulbs over the last couple years. Trudging through the snow. Facing blistering winds. Wearing bright green apparel. Now, our Saskatchewan crew is well-versed in the art of weaving around cows to distribute CFLs.
On November 15th, Project Porchlight attended the Saskatoon Fall Fair, one of the best known commercial beef shows in Western Canada. We made our way around nine breeds of purebred cattle to ensure that all 500 people at the event went home with a free light bulb.
The reception we got was fantastic! The Saskatoon locals were eager to learn about our Saskatchewan campaign—sponsored by SaskPower Eneraction. Project Porchlight Data/Mapping Coordinator, Kathleen Crowther, got a visit from a very special local: her younger brother Robert (pictured here with Kathleen)! He stopped by to show his support and pick up a CFL.
To top it all off, a Biggar, Saskatchewan resident took the time to come over and thank us for delivering her free bulb earlier this fall. She made the switch as soon as she received the CFL, and hasn’t looked back. Except maybe as she left the Saskatoon Fall Fair. As we’ve learned, you have to be careful around that many cattle!
