What does April means to you? Spring showers, crocuses, fresh grass, birds chirping in the wee small hours of the morning… certainly not massive snowstorms. But that's just what we were met with as we headed off to Sherwood Park for last week's Salisbury Farmers' Market.
Fortunately, we got word that the storm was just hanging over Calgary, and that Sherwood Park was in the clear. So we hauled out the window scrapers and anti-freeze and arrived just in time to set up our booth at the event.
Lucky thing that we did! We got a fantastic reaction from the Sherwood Park community, who came out in droves to the Farmers' Market on April 10th. We met tons of enthusiastic people who stopped by our booth to chat. John, a member of the Hutterite colony, came by and picked up an entire box of CFLs for his community. A representative from Habitat for Humanity paid us a visit and shared stories of community involvement. We also had a nice encounter with Andrea Carroll, who was selling herbs at her very own Farmers' Market booth, The Herb Garden.
We want to give a special shout-out to Sharon McFaul who made it possible for Project Porchlight to attend the Salisbury Farmers' Market. And we're so glad we did! We met some wonderful people and gave out 400 free bulbs. It was definitely worth the winter wonderland road trip!
