On July 15, Project Porchlight spent some time with thousands of Point Pleasant, NJ children, adults and teens—not to mention their water-loving friends. We set up shop at Jenkinson’s Aquarium at the North end of the Point Pleasant Boardwalk, and spent the afternoon and evening handing out energy-saving compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs and explaining the benefits of making the switch.

The Hanover Township Parks & Recreation Department’s free summer concerts at Bea Meadow Park in Hanover, New Jersey, are a wonderful way to spend an evening, listening to music while surrounded by a truly beautiful setting that features a nearby pond and a spectacular tree line.

The Community Picnic and Blood Drive held on July 2 at the Rock Community Center in Newark, New Jersey, was a way for the city’s residents to enjoy the outdoors while also contributing to the community’s health. So it was entirely appropriate that Project Porchlight was on hand to educate folks about the energy savings offered by compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs

The highlight of this year’s Orange Jazz Festival on July 3 in downtown Orange, New Jersey, was a real crowd-pleaser: Orange Mayor Eldridge Hawkins Jr. got on stage to play saxophone with famed drummer Cecil Brooks and His All-Star Band.
