There was no getting past Project Porchlight at the 2008 EcoLiving Fair, Calgary’s one-stop shop for sustainable products and sustainable living solutions. On September 27th, we staked out a prime spot at the trade show floor entrance and introduced ourselves to everyone who crossed our path.

Maureen Sywolos remembers the first time she heard about Project Porchlight. Regional coordinator Jane Baker had travelled to Tumbler Ridge this July to introduce the campaign and announce plans to expand to North Eastern BC. Maureen heard the presentation and was interested in getting involved, but was too busy to volunteer at the time.

In the second year, of the Maplewood Green Fair the town has added a giveaway of t-shirts, totes and water bottles as a means of educating their community about “Going Green”!

The stage is set. The band is ready to play. The coffee and hot chocolate are warm. And the food is fresh. Now all we need is you!
Join the Project Porchlight team at Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary as we launch our campaign throughout the city. The festivities take place on Friday, October 17, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, with speeches starting at noon.

With support from EnCana, The Government of Alberta, The City of Calgary, and The City of Edmonton, One Change will be launching the second phase of the Project Porchlight campaign in Alberta this fall. Hot on the heels of amazing success throughout the rest of Alberta over the past year, Project Porchlight is now set to brighten Calgary and Edmonton.
