In a province-wide campaign that took place in two phases between 2007 and 2009, more than 4,000 enthusiastic volunteers, with generous support from the Government of Alberta and EnCana Corporation, The City of Calgary, The City of Edmonton, and The City of Medicine Hat helped the Project Porchlight team successfully distribute more than 800,000 free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to residents in over 250 communities across rural and urban Alberta, door-to-door and at more than 273 community events.

    To make sure less waste is being produced, the M.E. LaZerte Green Team begun a recycling program. We initially began by placing one recycle bin by each garbage can in the school. Immediately we noticed the amount of waste began to decline.
